Weight Loss and Fat Loss: Doing It the Healthy Way

It is both scientific and medical fact that weight loss and fat loss cannot be attained without the proper combination of diet and exercise. If you want to lose weight in a healthy manner, you simply cannot turn to crash diets or fad diets. Likewise, you cannot engage in exercise only on random occasions and in irregular spurts. Your body simply cannot function that way. It, and all of its systems, do much better with gradual changes which occur over time.

Thus, naturally, if you have not exercised in more than a year or even in months, then you should not jump right into trying to run several miles a day or attempt to spend hours on an exercise bike. Doing so could inevitably do you much more harm than good. In fact, you run a very high risk of making yourself sick, which you definitely do not need.

As well, you will understandably struggle if you attempt to do too much to quickly. That will quickly become frustrating and discouraging, which will make you far more likely to give up before you have even begun. The key to losing weight and getting rid of fat is moderation - in all areas.

When we think of moderation, we typically think of food. We know that we should moderate the foods which are bad for us, but moderation applies to exercise as well. Especially when you have not been regularly active for some time, it is crucially important that you start out slowly. That is also the key to keeping the weight off once you lose it. You have to remember that the faster you lose weight, the faster you are likely to put it back on as soon as you diverge from your routine even a little.

So, you cannot lose weight without combining both diet and exercise - but doing too much too much is not going to be at all beneficial. Begin slowly. You do not necessarily have to go to a gym, but try talking to a trainer at one just to see what would work best for you as you begin. Failing that, you can also find plenty of tips on the Internet. You are going to want to burn some fat and build some muscle before you get down to exercising to lose a lot of weight.

As mentioned several times, you also have to eat right - and that means staying away from fly by night fad diets. In spite of how popular some of them are, you do not want to go with a diet which makes you cut foods out of your diet. Your body needs carbohydrates, for instance, in order to function at the top of its game. There are even certain fats that it needs so that it has the energy to function.

The key here, of course, is making sure that you are ingesting healthy fats and carbohydrates - and sugars and proteins as well. Make no mistake, however, you will not gain anything from limiting yourself. Once you do, your body and your brain will start to crave those foods. That is why moderation is the best option.
